My First White Hair....

innocuous as it might seem,

i noticed my first white strand of hair near my rim...

that made me ponder,

have i grown that much older ?

for a while,

my whole life whizzed past my eye...

d days in school,

where life was always so cool...

life in college with pals,

trying to impress all those gals...

joy of getting first salary,

how it made us also so merry...

parents searching for a bride,

when i did select one, they too held their heads with pride...

it took thirty one long hard years to get one,

so let me enjoy this white one...

i look forward to more of these,

will make me look a wiser thee...

The truth prevails...

post 13th may when voting was over all over india, all d news channels were flush with their exit poll result....

most of them predicted a close fight between the top two groups and only one of the channels predicted a score of 220 for one group....tht means none of them were close enough to where it has finally closed now...

we know tht this is jus an exit polls and there were "n" number of disclaimers by all tht x %age swing can cause Y effect on the count...also how tricky d job is knowin how varied india as a country is how one issue which is affecting a particular region would b totally irrelevant in the adjoining region

but to the viewers' disappointment, each channel was claimin victory as how correct they were in predicting the final tally after the leads were out.....d worst thing was how they were bragging over it again and again right in the midst of counting....all praising themselves for giving the so called "d true picture" first on their channel....how they felt the under current, how they had gauged the pulse of people and how correct they were in predicting it first !!! for a moment it seemed tht election results were secondary and their side of story of predicting the results was more important

we appreciate d amount of work done by all the ppl in travellin the breadth and dept of the country and giving us d picture, but pls dont assume d viewer is a fool who would forget what they showed jus 2-3 days ago...

in the end, the truth prevails that once again these psephologists have got it wrong in India just like in 2004..that predicting election results in India is more of an art than jus plain number crunching science..

16th may 2009...

not sure how many amongst r lookin fwd to 16th may....first of all it aint a holiday nor its any one's b'day / anniversary etc

its the day when election results will b out.....d month long election show will conclude or as things look like reach in a climax stage

it seems a close fight between top 2 n in a matter of days we all will know who is on Top

but then will d world change for a common man...or to put it explicity will india change for d common man...does it really matter if party x is in power or party y.....

what do we look fwd too from d govt - its always used to be "roti kapda aur makaan...." u add a bit of electricity for d makaan, roads that reach upto makaan and affordable medical / education facilities...

its more than 5 decades since Independence n with d sad state of affairs not sure if in d next 5 decades things wud b much different for d common man

one might raise terrorism hysteria or talk abt funds stashes away in foren land....one would blame d other for being communal or indulging in vote bank politics / one family ruling d party etc etc

one might score a few brownie points here n there but does it matter to us if what we need is not being provided by d Govt at the end of the day....

we have heard d famous saying...wht u sow is what you reap....same holds true for elections too.....d nature / quality of govt will b like d ppl for whom we voted n who get elected....if we vote for candidates with criminal background or those who do not have any shame in the way they conduct themselves in the parliament throwing mikes / shoes n what not at each other, what do you expect from them ?

we all hear abt recession affectin us n how our wealths have been eroded in d last one year !!! interesting to know that most of the honourable members have reported increase in their personal wealth....its truly "amazing" to have wealths increasing by as much as few hundred times in few cases

d govt will come n go...elections will come n go...we all will still b struggling for our lives jus like bfore !!! nothin wud have changed for us practically around our spheres of life !!!

what we need is ppl who r competent enuf to take d country fwd.....they might b skewl / college drop outs but if one believes they will deliver d goods for you, go ahead n vote for them

so next time if u blame d govt, remember part of the prob is you too...you did not go n vote for d right candidate or for tht matter you did not have d conviction to stand for election yourself n ask for votes from others !!!
